Winter Camp

Join us for a winter weekend getaway.  Half-way through the school year, students are desperate for a little respite. Thousand Pines winter camps treat your students to a high-energy weekend filled with exciting recreation, challenging speakers, and a chance to reconnect with the Lord.  Each year, our staff puts together a relevant theme that addresses the personal challenges and needs of your students and the kingdom at large.  We work closely with our guest speakers and worship leaders to provide a seamless flow from chapel times to small group devotions so your students receive the biggest impact.  Call us today and get ready for the best winter season your group has ever seen!

Theme Info

This winter we will be exploring the ideas of justice, mercy and humbleness. It is hard to wrap our arms around why people experience pain, why children go hungry and how the innocent are victims of crime. We see murderers and thieves walk the street in freedom while others are so entangled in bondage caused by abuse, neglect, and addictions, that they have no hope. We want to see change but we struggle with where to start, with where Jesus would want us to start.

The Bible gives us two basic commands: Love God and love people. In the book of Micah, the corruption of the world is addressed specifically regarding the pride, hypocrisy, and arrogance of the citizens of Jerusalem and Samaria. Micah says in Chapter 6, verse 8. “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

  • To act JUSTLY... acting or being in conformity with what is morally upright or good.
  • To love Mercy... compassionate treatment of those in distress or not receiving what we deserve.
  • To walk HUMBLY with our God... reflecting, expressing, or offering deference in a spirit of submission.

The world we live in now is still addressing the same issues that have been affecting people for thousands of years, but Micah 6:8 is the solution. The year 2010 is the hope for a new beginning, a place to start, and a map for the future. Whether you have a heart for starving children worldwide, the elderly in your community, or the thousands of people who are homeless; we have a chance to make a difference. Philippians 2:3-7 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be that of Christ Jesus: Who being in the very nature of God, who did not consider the equality of God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
